Terms of Use

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using any part of Zinthos (the website, the XMPP server, the group rooms, the SSH client, or the bots), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The service

Zinthos is provided free of charge, on a best-effort basis, with no guarantee of availability, durability, or fitness for any purpose. It may change, break, or shut down at any time.

3. Your account

• You are responsible for your account and for keeping your password secure.
• Do not impersonate others or create accounts to evade moderation.
• Registration is open, but accounts may be removed for abuse.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use Zinthos to:

• break the law, or organise or promote illegal activity;
• harass, threaten, stalk, or abuse anyone;
• send spam, run bots for advertising, or scrape the service;
• distribute malware, or attack or disrupt the server or the wider network;
• share content that is illegal, or that sexualises minors.

The public rooms are open and archived. Post only what you are comfortable being visible to others.

5. Moderation

Room owners and server administrators may mute, kick, ban, or remove accounts and content that violate these terms. Enforcement is at our discretion, and we do not guarantee notice before acting.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. You grant the server the limited permission needed to store and deliver it to other participants. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share it.

7. Bots and AI

Zinthos runs automated bots, including an AI assistant (Azarath) and a data collector (Metrion). Bot replies may be inaccurate and should not be relied on. Do not share secrets with bots — see the privacy page for how messages are handled.

8. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of Zinthos.

9. Federation and third parties

Zinthos federates with other XMPP servers. We are not responsible for the content, availability, or policies of third-party servers or clients.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
